TIRED OF GETTING GHOSTED? THIS IS NOT AN ONLINE APPLICATION

If you’ve been out of work for months, the search can wear you down and if this is not you, it could be someone you know. Sending applications and not hearing back affects your confidence. It can make it harder to stay engaged.

This event gives you something different.

You are not uploading a resume into a system. You are standing in front of an employer who is actively hiring. You can introduce yourself, explain your experience, and ask questions in real time.

Over eighty-five employers in one room gives you options! If one conversation does not lead anywhere, another one might. That kind of access does not happen often in one afternoon.

OUR TAKE

Online applications have their place, but face-to-face access still matters.

when employers see you and talk with you directly, it changes the dynamic. That personal connection can open doors that a digital submission cannot.

If you’ve felt invisible in your search, this is a chance to be seen.

What to Expect on Job Fair Day

The event runs from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Jaffa Shrine, 2200 Broad Ave in Altoona.

Veterans may enter early from 9:30 to 10:00 AM. That early window provides first access before the general public enters. It is intentional and meant to give veterans space and priority.

Employers from healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, retail, public service, skilled trades, and other sectors will be present. Some will conduct interviews on the spot, and we have even seen people walk away with a job offer!

Workshops will also be available leading up to the event for those who want added guidance.

OUR TAKE

Preparation builds confidence. You do not need a perfect resume or the perfect words.

You do need a plan.

Bring multiple printed resumes. Think through a short introduction about who you are and what type of work you want. Identify a few employers you want to visit first, so you do not feel overwhelmed.

Small preparation reduces anxiety and helps you stay focused.

HOW TO BE YOUR BEST AT A JOB FAIR

Not everyone walks into a hiring event feeling confident. That is normal.

That is why we are offering a job fair preparation workshop called “How to Be Your Best at a Job Fair.” These sessions are designed to help you understand what employers look for, how to introduce yourself clearly, and how to make a strong first impression.

Sign up for one of the following sessions:

  • Tuesday, March 10th @ 11:00 am

  • Tuesday, March 17 @ 11:00 am

  • Tuesday, March 24 @ 11:00 am

Click “contact us” above and let us know you want to learn more.

If you are unsure about what to say or how to approach a table, this guidance can make the experience feel more manageable.

PA CareerLink® staff will also be available throughout the event to provide general support. That includes resume guidance, job search advice, and help thinking through next steps after your conversations.

You do not have to navigate the room alone.

OUR TAKE

Confidence does not always come before action. Sometimes it comes from preparation and support.

If you feel unsure, use the resources available. The goal is not to be perfect. The goal is to leave knowing you took a real step forward.

FINAL NOTE:

Blair County does not host events of this size every month. More than 85 employers in one location is significant.

If you are ready to take one step forward, April 1 is a practical place to start.
